If you are still maintaining a Windows 7 machine, the built-in formatting tool is a workhorse—it almost never fails. However, the lack of modern confirmation pop-ups and the painfully slow "Full Format" option show its age. The User Interface (UI) Experience Don't expect the sleek, minimal design of Windows 10 or 11. The Windows 7 format dialog box looks exactly like it did in Windows 95. It is utilitarian: a drop-down for capacity, a file system dropdown (NTFS, FAT32, exFAT), allocation unit size, and a checkbox for "Quick Format."

if you need exFAT, have an SSD, or value your time during a full format. In those cases, boot into a Linux live USB or upgrade to Windows 10/11.

Note: As Windows 7 is end-of-life (no longer supported by Microsoft), this review focuses on the native tools available in the OS, their reliability, and the user experience. Overall Rating: 4/5 (Reliable but outdated interface)
