Leo’s face flickered. He unpaused the show.
"Then let’s find out," she said.
"Yeah," Maya whispered.
Maya’s chest tightened. She glanced at Leo. He was already looking at her.

"Don’t spoil it," Maya murmured, leaning in.
"Maybe the world is always ending," the male spy replied. "And you’re the only thing that makes me want to survive it." Leo’s face flickered
He didn’t finish. Because they both knew that the streaming metaphor had run out. They weren’t characters in a limited series. They were two people on a real couch, with real milk in the fridge, and a friendship that had long stopped being just friends.
