“Everything’s good,” she said. Then she smiled. “Hey, my webcam’s acting up. Something about ‘driver error code 0xA.’ Wanna take a look?”

Ellie slumped back in her chair. “So how do I fix it?”

She clicked it. This device has stopped working because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

“Why didn’t Windows install that automatically?” she asked.

She rebooted. On startup, Windows detected the “new” device (the same GPU it had always had) and automatically reinstalled the driver. The resolution snapped back to normal. The second monitor lit up.
