This season leans heavily into the show’s signature blend of historical figures (Nellie Bly, H.G. Wells, and a young Winston Churchill make appearances) and proto-forensic gadgetry. The overarching plot involves a shadowy conspiracy targeting the constabulary, which provides some serialized tension, but the heart of the show remains the weekly "howdunnit."
