Okay, she doesn’t physically drown until Season 3. But in Episode 7 ( The Self-Destruct Button ), Meredith has an ectopic pregnancy. She loses her fallopian tube while her mother (who doesn’t recognize her) yells from a hospital bed. It is devastating. It sets the tone that this show will hurt you. The solution
