This is a quirky, character-filled violin sampled from a vintage Soviet-era instrument. It’s not "Hollywood" realistic, but it has a gritty, intimate tone perfect for indie folk, game soundtracks, or horror cues.
An older free library that still holds up for basic parts. The solo violin has a warm, dark tone. The legato is simulated (not true sample-based), but with careful MIDI editing (overlapping notes and adjusting velocity), you can get decent results.
This is a physically modeled instrument (like SWAM but much simpler). It doesn’t use samples—it generates the sound in real time. The result? Very expressive pitch bending and vibrato, but a slightly synthetic attack.
Fiddle-style runs, not classical solos. 3. VSCO 2 Community Edition (Sampler Patches) Format: DecentSampler (free) or SFZ
No Kontakt required. Completely royalty-free samples. Cons: No built-in legato—you’ll need to overlap notes manually. 4. Karoryfer’s Orcophony (Vintage Solo Violin) Format: SFZ / DecentSampler
