Unlike earlier Wrong Turn entries (which were mostly survival horror), Last Resort leans into and dark family drama . The violence is graphic, sexual, and often cruel — including a notorious, controversial scene involving torture in a hotel room. The film also incorporates a reproduction/breeding subplot, where Danny is expected to continue the family line with a deformed relative.
